If you already have a pitch deck, business plan, or other documents that describes your business, you can upload it to Anna and let her create or update the Business Model Canvas content. This guide explains how it works.
What is BMC by document?
BMC by document is a feature that reads your file and pulls information relevant to the Business Model Canvas. Anna identifies customer segments, value propositions, channels, and other segments, then fills in your BMC tiles.
Supported file formats
You can typically upload:
- PDF —
.pdf - Word documents —
.doc,.docx - PowerPoint —
.pptx - Images —
.jpg,.jpeg,.png
Check the upload dialogue in the app for the exact list. Unsupported formats will be rejected.
File size limits
Your subscription tier affects how many and how big files you can upload:
- Free — 1 attempt per day. Maximum file size 10MB.
- Pro — 10 attempts per day. Maximum file size 25MB per file.
If your file is too large, try compressing it or splitting the content.
How to use BMC by document
- Open a project thread.
- Look for paperclip icon. You find it in the chat input field to the left.
- Click it to open the upload dialogue.
- Select a file from your device. Choose a PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPTX, or image.
- In the chat field, you can add additional instructions — e.g. “Focus on the customer section” or “Extract from slides 3–5” if you like.
- Click Send (the paperplane icon). Anna will process your file.
- Review the results — Anna will suggest content for your BMC segments. You can accept, edit, or reject each suggestion.
- Apply to your BMC — Save the extracted content to your BMC tiles.
Tips for better results
- Use clear documents — Well-structured documents with headings and clear sections tend to work best.
- Include relevant content — The more your document describes customers, value, channels, etc., the better the extraction.
- Add instructions — If your document is long, use additional instructions to guide the AI to the right sections.
Daily limits
- Free — 1 BMC by document attempt per day. The limit resets daily.
- Pro — 10 attempts per day.
